Bridge to Heavens

Behold the current world longest suspension bridge spanning 2 sheer cliffs in the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon area in Shiniuzhai National Geological Park, China! One would wonder what is so special about these kinda bridges found almost everywhere in the world. Now not only this bridge is 984 feet in length, thats about 3 foot ball fields, and suspended at a terrfying 590 feet above land, its floor is also fully made of glass material! Offering breathtaking crystal clear views down the entire canyon for tourists crossing it.

This glass material is reported to be 25 times stronger than any normal glass and having a thickness of 24 milimeter which is around 0.94 inches and claimed to be capable of withstanding the weight of 800 people (even with them jumping while crossing it! ). A team of 11 engineers / architects carried out the construction of this bridge and other foundation building materials like high density steel cables and frames were used as the base for the whole project.

Finally adding to the suspenseā€¦at such heights between a vast space, the strong winds channeled by the mountains often sway the bridge back and forth, giving a heart-stopping experience and adrenaline rush!
