Raw Wood Interior Design

An award winning restaurant in ZhongShan Taipei, Taiwan embracing a dining concept that engages a myriad of senses utilising a “raw” wood or timber design elements. Its architect in collaboration with its chief chef, aspires to fuse gastronomy with interior design.

Its core design is defined by wooden materials and structure in fluidity, taking form of elegant curves instead of the conventional squarish approach. According to its designer, such concept is only made possible by the flexibility or malleability of the wood material itself. Within it, there are steel reinforcements and diagonal metallic bracings to stabilise the whole interior structure for safety purposes in the event of seismic activities, frequently occurring in Taipei.

Utilising wood also made possible for carving in decorations directly into the main structures, adding to the overall aesthetics of the place. Finally, the 3.8 metre high ceiling, varying shape and extra thick table tops, furnitures and carefully planned lighting completes the unique ambience of the place, lifting dining to a whole new level!
